Alice In Wonderland – Real and Knock-Off

“You’ll be astounded by the detail and beauty of the costumes created by two-time Academy Award winner Colleen Atwood. The exhibition features some of her original creations for the film, including Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter fighter garment, a few of Mia Wasikowska’s Alice dresses, and Helena Bonham Carter’s Red Queen Dress, along with some costume sketches and props from the film.” — Amy Taylor, LA Women’s Fashion Examiner

Costumes from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland are on exhibit at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, though September 30, 2010. How wonderful it is to be able to see the detail of the movie’s costume designer, Colleen Atwood. It’s never too early to be inspired for your next costume party! See Colleen’s sketches from InStyle magazine’s article.

If you’re in the L.A. area, check out the exhibit at FIDM. Leave a comment if you do see the exhibit and let me know how fabulous it is!

Get ready to be stunned even more.

Speaking of costumes, check out this mum’s A-MAAA-ZING duplication of the Queen of Hearts’ and Alice’s dresses. These were all made without a pattern!Look at all the detail put into this. I’m envious and speechless. I’m also curious if she created the heart fabric or if she actually found the same fabric. Either way, kudos!
