Our May meeting began with an exploration of how our iron and pressing aids can help mold fabric into three-dimensional garments. We saw how steam plus shrinking thread or Texture Magic® can add dimension to the fabric itself and how steam applied to sleeve heads can prepare sleeve caps for pucker-free insertion. We learned that our steam iron can team up with fusible tapes to make perfect corner insets and invisible pucker-free hems, and that a dry iron teamed with manila file folders can make left and right pockets and other garment details match each other (always a good thing).
Continuing our exploration of transforming flat materials into three-dimensional objects, we got out our scissors and tape and followed along as Liz H. gave us our second lesson in dart manipulation. We discovered there is no limit to the creative possibilities this skill provides.
